2. Louise Herreshoff Eaton

Louise Herreshoff Eaton (1876–1967) was an American Impressionist painter, working primarily in New England from 1890 to 1928. Herreshoff was also an avid collector of porcelain. Together with her second husband Euchlin Reeves (W&L ‘27L), Herreshoff bequeathed an immense collection of ceramics that seeded the Reeves Collection of Ceramics at the Museums. Accompanying the ceramics was a collection of Herreshoff’s works, including studio studies like the one below. Imprints from thumb tacks are still visible on the canvas of this study.
